MFW | Alberta Ferretti Spring/Summer ’19
Alberta Ferretti was the first fashion show I attended at this Milan Fashion Week. And it was a surprise! The new Spring/Summer 2019 collection brought unexpected news, a more fresh and girly collection.
Transparencies, embroidery and frills were present on the runway, on pastel shades and timeless black, this last one always loyal to her old collections. What made the collection were its delicate materials, like cotton eyelet, crochet, and pointelle knit, setting the romantic look as a trend for the new season.
The “Frock Queen” has set her sights on the youth vote. Putting some of her convictions aside, she combined classic looks with a touch of irreverence, for a more casual and modern costumer.
Can a designer reinvent herself after 35 years in business, without losing her personal stamp and characteristics? She can, she must, and with her Spring/Summer 2019 collection, Alberta Ferretti proved she could.
It was amazing and, after the show, I had the pleasure of meeting Alberta Ferreti. It’s always a pleasure to meet the designer and creator of one of the brands we adore.
